What is Meditation?
Meditation is the art of creating a centre of stillness within the self where peace and tranquillity are experienced.
Apart from the ultimate realisation of what you truly are, regular meditation brings benefits to all areas of our lives; physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
Physical benefits include: a decreased respiratory rate, increased blood flow and a slower heart rate, total relaxation and a lowering of blood pressure.
Anxieties are reduced by lowering the level of stress hormones. There is a decrease in muscle tension and an increase in serotonin production which influences happier moods and behaviour.
Mental activity is slowed down and awareness is sharpened. After meditating, you will feel mentally refreshed, calmer, more relaxed and have a greater sense of well-being. Meditation leads to a feeling of being at ease with the world. Self-esteem, self-confidence and the ability to focus and concentrate more easily also result from regular meditation.
